Chemisty Review Sheet

Today in class we began with going over the nitrogen cycle handout we needed to have filled in. After going over all the questions and answers, we had a short, open-book quiz on the nitrogen cycle worth seven marks.
Afterwards, we went over the Chemical Reactions Previous Knowledge Review sheet. We were given this sheet at the beginning of our new unit called Chemical Reactions. We reviewed how to find the the atomic number, amount of protons, neutrons, electrons, and if it is a metal or non-metal for the elements on the periodic table. We then went over how a physical change and a chemical change are different. Physical changes are reversable, while chemical changes are not.
Also on the review sheet is listing physical properties. Some of these are density, volume, boiling point, state (gas, liquid, solid), freezing point, and melting point.
Before beginning to list indicators of a chemical reaction, we went outside to see a chemical experiment by Mr. Toogood. These experiments were to help us identify some of the obvious indicators of a chemical reaction occuring. Indictaors we identified from the experiments were change of colour, different odor, heat and light being given off, new substance being formed, and the emission of gas. We ended the class by going over these indicators.
Next is Colin.
