We then moved into an experiment called the Rate of Reactions. It included an Alka-Seltzer tablet, different water temperatures(cold, medium and hot), film canister, beaker(cup) and a graduated cylinder. The goal was to determine if different water temperatures or surface area of the tablet effected how fast the lid exploded off. We recorded our observations in a chart, and were asked questions such as the effect the water temperature and volume had on the experiment. Our group determined that the quickest reaction occurred when there was a high level of hot water and when the tablet was in one piece(not crushed). The only trail that did not produce a result was the cold water.
